About the Provider

Gregory F. Griffeth PMHNP-BC

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a clinical focus on adolescents (12+), young adults, and adults.

My approach to psychiatric care is shaped by both medical training and a prior professional background in education. Before entering nursing, I served in K–12 independent schools as a science teacher, coach, and administrator. Working closely with students, parents, and school systems gave me a deep appreciation for developmental stages, family dynamics, and the broader systems that influence wellbeing.

For middle school, high school, and college-aged clients, my foundation in education informs how I approach communication, diagnostic evaluation, and family partnership. I place strong emphasis on developmentally appropriate care, clear explanations, and helping individuals and parents understand not only what is happening, but why.

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Georgia, a Master of Science in Biology from Vanderbilt University, and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University. I later completed a Master of Science in Nursing at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, where I trained as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

My transition into psychiatry reflects a long-standing commitment to supporting young people and families. Treatment is thoughtful, evidence-based, and attentive to the systems and experiences that shape mental health across the lifespan.

My wife and I have been married for over 30 years and have raised three sons. My experiences as a husband and father continue to shape a steady, collaborative, and empathetic approach to care.

Faith is an important part of my life and informs the humility and sense of purpose I bring to my work. I respect the diverse beliefs of those I serve and, when welcomed, am comfortable incorporating spiritual perspectives into care in a clinically appropriate and thoughtful manner.
